Lift trolley for Rolls Royce
Project Description
Acres developed for Rolls-Royce a custom industrial lift trolley designed to facilitate the handling, lifting, rotation, and transfer of technical support tools within an aerospace production environment. The solution allows for adjusting the working height, orienting the jig using a rotating bed, and achieving a more controlled transition between the trolley and the conveyor line.
Client Need
Rolls-Royce required a solution that would allow for safer, more precise, and ergonomic movement and positioning of blade stands/jigs during the production process.
The equipment needed to facilitate the transfer of the tool to or from a conveyor belt, avoiding complex manual maneuvers and reducing the risk of impacts, misalignments, or uncontrolled movements. It was also necessary to be able to adapt the working height, rotate the assembly to correctly orient the part, and keep the stand secured during operation.
Additionally, the process required a mobile and compact solution, capable of integrating into the plant workflow and offering space to transport an additional tool when necessary.
Solution developed by Acres
The design was conceived as a mobile handling equipment capable of accompanying the operator’s actual process: bringing the jig closer to the line, adjusting the height, orienting the position, and facilitating transfer to the next work phase.
To achieve this, Acres integrated an electric scissor lift table with a rotating top bed, machined nylon guides, and rollers that help move the jig smoothly and controllably. The locking system allows the orientation to be fixed during operation, while the clamps keep the stand secured during internal transport.
The solution also incorporates additional rails to accommodate a second jig, increasing the versatility of the lift trolley and allowing the equipment to add value not only in handling but also in organizing the workflow.
Technical design specifications
- Robust metal structure with welded base and reinforcements for industrial use.
- 300 kg electric scissor lift table integrated as the equipment base.
- 360° rotating bed to orient the blade stand / jig during operation.
- Locking system every 90° to fix the rotation position in a controlled manner.
- Nylon rollers to facilitate a smooth transition of the jig to or from the conveyor belt.
- Nylon 6 machined guides and supports to accompany movement and protect contact areas.
- Toggle clamps to keep the stand secured during internal transport and operation.
- Integrated additional rails to transport an extra jig within the same lift trolley.
