Project description
Acres developed for GE Aerospace a custom industrial trolley designed to store, protect, and transport Rotor Lock and No. 4 Spanner within the plant. The solution keeps these technical tools in defined positions, makes them easy to identify, and enables safe movement between work areas, avoiding the use of generic carts or improvised surfaces that do not provide the same protection, order, or control during day-to-day operations.
Customer need
GE Aerospace required a specific solution to store, protect, and transport technical tools in an organised and safe manner within the plant.
The tools required defined positions, protection during movement, and clear presentation to facilitate use, identification, and control. Due to their geometry and operational value, a standard solution could not properly secure each item or maintain the level of organisation required for daily work.
The main requirement was to develop a custom industrial trolley combining mobility, structural strength, surface protection, and visual control of each tool.
Solution developed by Acres
Acres approached the project based on the actual shape of the tools, their use on the shop floor, and the need to keep each item protected, located, and accessible during internal transport.
The solution was not conceived as a standard cart, but as an industrial trolley designed around Rotor Lock and No. 4 Spanner. To achieve this, specific support areas, custom holders, and protective elements were defined, allowing each tool to be placed in a clear, repeatable position.
The design combines mobility, visual organisation, and technical protection, enabling the tools to be moved within the work environment without impacts, unwanted shifting, or loss of visual control. The result is a robust, functional solution tailored to the demands of an aerospace environment.
Key elements of the solution:
- Robust metal structure for intensive industrial use.
- Laser-cut base plates adapted to the geometry of the tools.
- Powder-coated finish in RAL 7012 Basalt Grey.
- Custom technical foam inserts (PE foam).
- Support and positioning parts in black PE300.
- Defined areas for Rotor Lock and No. 4 Spanner.
- Protection against impacts, direct contact, and unwanted movement.
- Mobility via industrial wheels to facilitate internal transport.
- Planned load test with SWL 300 kg and test weight 400 kg.
