Powered rotor stand for GE Vernova

Project description

Acres developed for GE Vernova a rotor roller set consisting of a powered rotor stand and an auxiliary stand, designed to work with large, heavy industrial rotors.

The solution allows the rotor to rest on dedicated wheels, control its rotation via a motorized system, and keep the assembly stable during manufacturing, inspection, maintenance, or assembly operations.

Customer need

GE Vernova needed a solution capable of supporting and rotating heavy-duty industrial rotors safely, stably, and in a controlled manner within the plant.

The rotor required robust support, reliable load distribution, and a system that would allow rotation to be controlled during work. The solution also had to facilitate access to the component, maintain overall stability, and protect the contact areas during operation.

The main requirement was to develop a handling system that combined load capacity, controlled rotation, structural stability, and mechanical integration, prepared for a demanding industrial application in the energy sector.

The design was developed as a powered rotor roller set capable of working with the rotor between two units: a motorized stand responsible for controlling rotation and an auxiliary stand to stabilize the opposite end.

Acres integrated a reinforced structure with support wheels, machined shafts, a motorized system, chain transmission, sprockets, bearings, and mechanical guards to control rotor movement during operation.

The solution allows the rotor to be rotated in a controlled manner on its support points, facilitating inspection, assembly, or maintenance tasks without compromising component stability.

The result is a robust handling system tailored to GE Vernova, designed to work with high loads, improve operational control, and provide safety during technical operations in the plant.
